Nature Conservation Policy Workshops & Summit:
Creating a suitable policy framework for Hong Kong
Civic Exchange is launching a new programme to improve nature conservation in Hong Kong. The programme, which will be launched at a press conference on Friday 21st January, 2011 includes a new policy framework for nature conservation (enclosed), an annual conservation review, and the first ever summit of Hong Kong’s environmental NGOs (envNGOs). Late last year the Government informed the Legislative Council that Hong Kong would join the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in the first quarter of 2011.
We believe that this presents a unique opportunity to create a new conservation policy for Hong Kong that fully conforms with the requirements of the CBD, and we would like to seek your support and involvement.
